Clear about my role

Supportive care, not clinical care

I trained as a direct-entry midwife, and that training shapes how attentively I sit with a laboring woman. But I am not attending your birth as your midwife. I do not deliver babies, and I do not replace a midwife or an OB-GYN.

Your licensed provider holds your clinical and medical care from pregnancy through birth. Keep every prenatal appointment with them. What I offer is supplemental support: presence, comfort, informed guidance at home, and continuous companionship once you're in the hospital.

If labor moves faster than expected, my job is to help you get to your hospital safely and to alert your provider and emergency services. I do not provide emergency obstetric care.

    A free consult to talk through your birth setting, your care provider, and what kind of support would actually help you.

    We prepare

    Prenatal visits to build your comfort plan, practice coping tools, and get your partner confident in their role.

    Early labor at home

    I come to you. We use position, rest, food and rhythm so you can labor in your own space as long as it's serving you.

  4. 04

    Into the hospital

    When it's time, we go together. I stay with you through birth, then follow up at home once your baby is here.

Good to know

Are you my midwife?
No. I do not deliver babies and I do not replace a midwife or OB. Your licensed provider stays fully responsible for your clinical care and your baby's birth. My care is supplemental and supportive.
So what does a monitrice actually do?
A monitrice is a birth support person with training in labor assessment. I sit with you at home during early labor, offer comfort and coping support, and help you and your provider gauge timing — so you're not sent home from the hospital or arriving before you're ready.
Will you deliver my baby if things move fast?
No. If labor progresses quickly, my role is to help you get to your hospital safely and to notify your provider and emergency services if needed. I don't provide clinical or emergency obstetric care.
Do I still need to see my provider for prenatal care?
Yes, always. Keep every appointment with your midwife or OB. I work alongside their care, never instead of it.
Can I hire you as a doula only?
Yes. The doula package includes 2 prenatal visits, birth support and 1 postpartum visit for $1500.
